It was 2005 and I had just finished failing another Chemistry exam. I decided to express my feelings in the following poem…
Ode to Chemistry by Cini M
The birds twitter
dementedly
As I struggle
with chemistry.
The wind moans
ironically,
as atoms bond
ionically.
Is ‘isomerism’
even a word?
Really? If so
I haven’t heard…
Why don’t we
run and hide?
Rather than deal
with sodium oxide
What if we
take some action?
Chemistry being the
catalyst in our reaction…
Will they notice
our plight?
our pathetic attempts
to take flight?
No. I thought not.
Worrying much more
about the reaction
of HCL and H2SO4
Needless to say, I did not continue with chemistry….but my English teacher (between hysterical laughs) assured me that I might have a future in writing…with a lot more practice
