Forget Twilight.
Forget True Blood.
Hell, you can even forget Anne Rice.
None of them got vampires right.
If you want to see what real vampires are like, check out '30 Days of Night'. In this movie vampires invade a small Alaskan town during the month-long period of darkness experienced during the winter.
These vampires are nothing like sparkly Edward. In fact, they are not sexy or appealing at all. They are eerily similar to zombies (Vampire-Zombies: Oh My!) in their uncontrollable hunger as they rip apart their victims. Death is not neat and it is not pretty. With claw-like nails and sharp, jagged teeth they remind us of why vampires were once feared (ahh... the good old days...now instead of running, everyone just wants to screw them). These vampires are there for the kill. There is no seduction. There is no mercy.
I've only got one problem with this movie. That is, how can an entire town be wiped out with no one noticing for an entire month? Surely someone must have noticed when everyone stopped updating facebook or contacting relatives...I left facebook for two days and a few people noticed...if it's an entire town...but whatever...anything can happen in Magical Movie Land :).
Anyway, I highly recommend this flick for horror buffs and vampire lovers. It makes your heart beat faster and the darkness more uncertain.
It brings nightmares back to the night.
This post is perfect except for the Anne Rice part and the true blood part :p

To answer your question, it's Alaska. No one pays attention to them except when their annoying governors get picked as running mates. not to sound mean or anything...
ReplyDeletetrue blood and anne rice are great...but the vampires are a bit too pretty...the vampires of 30 days were horrific and nightmarish..they just wanna eat u :D
ReplyDeleteone can only hope that Sarah Palin was amongst the victims...muhahaha...lol
